ABOUT US

Promoting Best Practice at Cozy Tree Daycare

Introduction

At Cozy Tree, we aim to provide all children with a fun, caring, loving and educational environment.  Our mission is to support the independence, learning and growth of all children’s individual needs in an uninhibited setting.

Parents/Carers are encouraged to work in partnership with us, to enhance your child's learning and development. We offer a service that promotes equality and values diversity for families, employees and visitors.

We deliver the EYFS curriculum through observation, planning and assessment, using the guidelines as a base to facilitate excellent childcare.

We are naturally a loving and happy family and wish to expand this to you.

Cozy Tree Daycare is managed by Natasha Dauswell, Ubaila Kes and Elaine Blackett.

We are a mother and daughter Childminder partnership team.

We are situated in our family homes, over three properties.  For children aged

0-3 years we have our Chipmunks home, for children aged 3-10 years our Busy Beez and Humming Birds homes.  These settings provide a real home from home feel with an abundance of opportunities for structured and spontaneous learning.

Our settings are carefully designed to offer a relaxed, child centred atmosphere, in a safe and secure environment to provide children with an excellent base for social interaction, surrounded by a peaceful neighbourhood.

‘I aim to make my setting accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures’.

As a registered childminder I hold clear policies and procedures in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Guidance and Ofsted

A policy is a written statement about how I will work in one area of my practice.

A procedure details the actions I will take to carry out the policy.

STAFFING

Your children thrive from a base of loving and secure relationships, normally provided by the child’s parents but this also can be provided by a Key Person. Natasha, Ubaila and Elaine are the childminders, managing the houses alongside our dedicated team of qualified and unqualified staff.  All employees must demonstrate a passion for teaching and have experience of caring for children.  All must be registered with Ofsted and an enhanced DBS completed.  We offer staff training towards varied childcare qualification, First Aid for Paediatrics and Safeguarding courses are mandatory for all staff, to ensure a wealth of experience, knowledge and personal growth is attained. Apprentiship
programmes are available.

There is no I in Team and we work together to create a safe, joyful environment.

Curriculum

Children are encouraged to learn through choice of personal, social and emotional development, physical, literacy, communication & language, expressive arts and design, maths and understanding the world, using toys and equipment to extend children’s learning and development in all seven areas of learning.  Activities are based on children’s interests, choice boards, free choice and supported by monthly themes to create planned weekly
activities for indoor and outdoor use. Our playrooms are divided into the seven areas of learning to enhance and support children’s need to learn and explore.   Our planning is a guideline with the freedom for spontaneous learning.

Children’s development is monitored through a keyworker system. A keyworkers role is to help ensure that every child’s care and development is tailored to meet their individual needs.

My policies and procedures commit to the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda and outcomes including keeping children safe and healthy, supporting children in their learning and helping them to become confident and independent learners skilled and ready for life.

Recommended as good practise my written policies and procedures set out the context in which both I and service users will operate and are expected to function whilst attending my setting.  Service users include children, parents, visitors, my family and I. As part of my settling-in policy I will go through my policies and procedures with you and ask you to sign where appropriate indicating your understanding and commitment to work in partnership with me in the best interests of your child.
